PIGLET & JEMIMA COULTER PANIC

As we've come to learn here at TMR, the arrival of new music from Irish, South London-based songwriter piglet is always a good thing. Teaming up with Bristol's Jemima Coulter, in the first of a rumoured set of collaborative tracks, 'panic' is a characteristically emotive new offering. Explained best the artists themselves piglet shares: “‘panic’ is about realising a friendship has swayed too far into manipulation and lies to be recoverable. The song discusses the search for meaning amongst this realisation and the conclusion that the person’s actions are an echo of how they have been treated and a reflection of a society which rejects the value of care rather than a personal failing. It’s been a real honour and very good craic working with Jem, and the song feels like a really nice blend of what we both do.”Jemima Coulter adds: “In community, we always hope to show up as family for each other, unconditionally supportive and understanding. The hard part is when it starts to feel one-sided or harmful somehow – how far can we support people without it negatively impacting our own lives? At what point is leaving people to be responsible for themselves a good thing and at what point is it abandonment?” Get your tissues at the ready as you tune in to this affecting lofi pop banger. -Holly Mullineaux
