Having stolen our hearts with 'gut health' earlier this year, Bristol-based songwriter Pem follows up her cloud work EP with 'ellipsis'. Opening to subtle synths and Pem's distinctive lead vocal, 'ellipsis' picks up momentum with the inclusion of shuffling drum beats and emotive strings as her drawn out melodies grow busier and more intense. Lyrically examining ambiguity and a lack of closure, Pem explains: "It’s called ellipsis because of those three dots at the end of the sentence that leave things unresolved. Ellipses aka grand miscommunications and aversions to concrete endings.” Accompanied by a striking black and video directed by Genevieve Reeves, 'ellipsis' is another triumphant release from the beguiling world of Pem. -Holly Mullineaux
