PANIC SHACK GOK WAN

Cardiff-based Panic Shack have revealed their new track, ‘Gok Wan’. It’s an explosive look at the toxic culture of body improvement, propelled by a huge wall of bass and guitar texture in its thickest moments, and relentless motorik drums during the more restrained verses. Sarah Harvey’s vocal performance doesn’t let up, with a razor-sharp delivery persisting throughout. “The title 'Gok Wan' comes from the show he presented, How To Look Good Naked, which in all honesty was one of the better shows in terms of negativity but still obviously had the main focus on women’s bodies,” the band explain. “No hate to Gok (Trinny and Susannah didn’t have the same ring to it for a title), it was the time we lived in and through but it was still shit, it still shaped our little teenager minds into this grown up hellscape of constantly focusing on how we look rather than what we do.” The quintet will be releasing their debut album soon and will be touring the UK in May 2025. -Dan Peeke
