Oh Wonder’s naturally reflective single ‘All We Do’ reaches a divine level with their new video, which acts an anthropological capsule of modern humanity. This video could even be treated as a mini-documentary as the Oh Wonder duo Anthony and Josephine reach out to filmmakers from across the world with just one question - “what does it mean to be human?” The first reply that being human is “the hardest thing to be” becomes an overarching statement supported by the variety of subsequent answers from grounded, creative individuals who themselves know that to be human means more than simply existing. The seemingly limitless responses include “uplifting somebody”, “surrender”, “making other people’s lives better”, “to know that we’re not alone”, “having something to say”, “to build a new future” and even a reference to Gandhi's immortal instruction “be the change.” In the closing section of this video, Oh Wonder’s soft, minimalist sound becomes all the more powerful as the pauses between electronics, piano notes and their perfect harmony becomes a space within which to consider being human. - HT
