While you’ll find precisely zero trumpets in Mush’s latest single, ‘Seven Trumpets’, you’ll find a wealth of experimentation. The track bounces effortlessly from detuned, jangling psychedelia through melodic, almost progressive rock-influenced guitar lines and into laid back jazz-funky breakdowns. All the while, lead vocalist Dan Hyndman delivers lines that were conceived to be about climate change, but developed into a more generalised look at catastrophe: “with the plethora of Armageddon scenarios currently on display, it became more about sleepwalking into disaster.” The single is taken from their upcoming album, Lines Redacted, due for release on February 12^th, 2021. -Dan Peeke
