MOUNT EERIE HUGE FIRE
Returning to his Mount Eerie moniker, Phil Elverum releases new track 'Huge Fire' for 7e.p. Records' 20th anniversary compilation album COLORS. The first new music since his sprawling, reflective epic 'Microphones In 2020', the new track is a welcome return from the prolific songwriter who last year compiled his entire back catalogue into a hefty box set Completely Everything, 1996-2021. 'Huge Fire' is a meditative track centred around an ascending bass groove, sparse guitar lines, scattered drums and perpetually hissing cymbal that culminate into subtle layers of distortion and feedback; lyrically the track describes the construction of an almighty pyre and explores fire's cathartic and replenishing qualities. Check out the rest of the compilation here featuring a range of different artists who exist in a similar lo-fi indie music world such as Lou Barlow, Little Wings, Takako Minekawa, Julie Dorion and Karl Blau. -Toby Evans-Jesra
