The latest single from Mother Tongues is the excellent ‘A Heart Beating’. It’s a gothic dream-pop track that establishes an ethereal texture through twanging guitar arpeggios, shiny synth chords and a distant, kaleidoscopic vocal performance. It is both serene and intense, while creating a sense of nostalgia that feels almost futuristic. The band explain that their new track “speaks to how we can find ourselves lost in the feedback loop of regrets and longing. The chorus repeats like some hypnotic spell calling you back into your body.” The duo’s debut album, Love In A Vicious Way, is due for release on July 21st, 2023. -Dan Peeke
