Moreish Idols, South-London Speedy Wunderground signees, have dropped their new single, ‘Slouch’. It’s a hook-driven cut with circular bass lines combining with swirling synth sounds to provide an accompaniment which is simultaneously tense and warm. Much of the track’s second half is instrumental, building towards a thick-textured, almost industrial soundscape that straddles the sound of both of their critically acclaimed EPs, Float and Lock Eyes. The track is written in response to singer and guitarist Jude Lilley’s Ankylosing spondylitis diagnosis: “To be told you have something for life can be daunting and scary, but you must be reminded how lucky you are when there is a system of care. This process forced a reconsideration of what has been taken for granted and presented the opportunity to rejuvenate oneself in a way that surpasses physical form.” Catch the band on their headline UK tour in March 2025. -Dan Peeke
