We love End of the Road Festival here at TMR, so the news that one of our favourite festivals is starting its own label is a promising and exciting prospect. Launching today with the debut single by Modern Woman, who's name we've heard spreading like wildfire around the London circuit, 'Offerings' is an impactful outing for both the band and the label. Instrumentally veering from intricate to bludgeoning, elements of recently prevalent post-punk are apparent, but there's something far more experimental afoot here. Somehow giving off whiffs as disparate as Girl Band, Patti Smith and Kate Bush, 'Offerings' is underpinned by an old-fashioned, folky sensibility, which comes to life with the inclusion of deranged violins about halfway through.
