Mimi Bay is a nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter who first established herself and her sound aged just fourteen - from her bedroom and via YouTube. Her new single, ‘helium cowgirl’ transports you to the 1950s, with soft vocals and lap steel guitar tones creating a hypnotic, hazy, nostalgic timbre. “‘helium cowgirl’ is about trying and failing to keep someone around and realizing there’s nothing you can say or do to change their mind, like gravity having no effect on helium,” she explains.
