'Drained Lake' is the new single from Canadian noise-rockers METZ. The second track to be taken from their forthcoming third album Strange Peace, due 22 September via the iconic Sub Pop label, and appearing alongside confirmation of a worldwide tour throughout the rest of the year, it is a typically raucous and punk-infused affair from one of the best exponents of the genre on the planet. Frontman Alex Edkins explains that the track reflects "The constant struggle to know yourself and make sense of your life and surroundings. What is my purpose? Holding on to who you are while fending off pressure to bend to what other people want and expect from you." It's visceral, abrasive and everything you want from the ever-brilliant METZ. -G.O'B
