Transcendental songwriter Maria BC makes a welcome return with two stunning singles, 'Amber' and Watcher. The first of which, is an ambient slow burner that stems from an ominous acoustic guitar sequence. Drenched in reverb, the steel strings scream out from beneath BC's fingers as she slides up and down the neck, adding an eerie yet percussive quality to the heavy mood. Tastefully accompanied by the sparse use of piano, strings and electronics, Maria BC's hushed vocals glide through unusual chord changes, providing a gentle guide from start to finish. With both singles arriving alongside the announcement of her forthcoming album Spike Field, which is set to be released via her new label home Sacred Bones on the 20th of October; we'll be keeping our ear to the ground for more enchanted morsels from Maria BC in the run up to it. -Holly Mullineaux
