MAJA LENA SACRED PRACTICE
Striking a chord in our current locked-down state, former Low Chimes member Marianne Parrish has shared the second taste of her debut solo record under her Swedish nickname and solo moniker Maja Lena. Following last month's 'Birch', 'Sacred Practice' is similarly textural. Set over stripped-back instrumentation, layers of vocals entwine in a style reminiscent of Bitte Orca-era Dirty Projectors as earthy percussion as a subtle sense of momentum. Parrish explains: “'Sacred Practice' is a song dedicated to some of the smaller things in life. The daily tasks and practices that can end up becoming the most valuable, and make your mind a more peaceful place to be. It is also a musing on how sometimes missed opportunities and unwanted change can eventually turn out to be a good thing, and help you to grow as a person...” Maja Lena's debut album The Keeper will arrive on the 23rd of July. -Holly Mullineaux
