LEX BARLIN RED DUST
The latest offering from Lex Barlin is an artistic exploration of house and techno. The Sydney-based producer and DJ has dropped ‘Red Dust’ in an exciting climate of electronic music. The chant-like pad that crescendos the piece into action gives a futuristic feel that wouldn’t be out of place on a particularly left-field video game soundtrack, before dense bass synths collide with aggressive acid-like squelches to form the bulk of the piece. It eventually collapses in on itself, fading into nothing through a series of overlapping melodies and filters (as if simulating a mechanical failure) before launching back into a solid beat which manages to stay fresh even after five minutes. -Dan Peeke
