Having spent time honing his songcraft with the help of Lucy Rose, Josef Salvat and Cloves collaborator, Rich Cooper, Leicester artist Leo Stannard looks ready for the big time. He penned a deal with trusted hitmakers Black Butter (Rudimental, Clean Bandit) at the turn of the year, and now we're being treated to the very first track taken from the EP they'll release later in the year. It's a sweet, blue-eyed soul number called 'I Need Time' and it sounds unlike any other singer/songwriter out there at the moment, with lounge piano riffs forming the base off which Leo's warming vocal pivots. Okay, maybe the chorus is a little John Newman, but other than that, Leo's onto something really unique. - DC
