Bath’s Laura Doggett has effectively appeared out of thin air - there’s a couple of BBC Introducing sessions (even the links have now expired) but other than that, she’s a ghost. We don’t mind the whole elusive, ‘let-the-music-do-the-talking’ schtick, so long as the tunes measure up - and boy, does ‘Phoenix’ deliver. Produced by Vienna-based maestro SOHN, whose bristling beats have crowned BANKS and Kwabs tracks in recent months, it’s a rousing homily on never giving in, picking up the pieces and starting afresh, stronger. Stunning.
