British-Spanish artist LALA HAYDEN has returned with her new single, ‘baby you’re the best!’. It’s a mesmeric slice of ultra-modern synth-pop, defined by crystal-clear synths, breathy and percussive vocal samples and a menacing sense of tension and foreboding. Her voice is powerful and acrobatic, but remains unique in both her delivery and melodic choices, with the likes of Kate Bush and Self Esteem providing clear influence. “I keep feeling triggered when I see older men with much younger women (women who could be their daughters),” she explains, on the track’s lyrical inspiration. “It's like these grown men don't want to be challenged, they just want to be praised...and nothing evolves or changes.
