The guys over at Hillydilly deserve a big hat tip for bringing ace new LA/NYC singer-songwriter, Jamie Brooks to our attention. It's been three months since Brooks dropped her sublime debut track, 'Sea Of Thorns', and there's nothing we can do but spin this intricate little pop ditty over and over again to make up for lost time. A delicate, half-sung/half-spoken vocal is wound around a reverby guitar motif and a peppering of woody percussion - it's one of the most accomplished and natural-feeling debuts in ages. Sorry Jamie, we'll make sure we're awake next time out. - DC
