Irish-born singer-songwriter I.AM.L used to go by the name of Laura May, she's since cast aside her old moniker and moved to Brighton but her roots are laid bare for all to see on percussion-heavy debut track 'Lionheart'. Lucy's paean to her grandmother, who she places on a pedestal for her strength and determination - qualities evident in Lucy's own raw, vivacious tones - it builds slowly with placid piano accompanying a softly chugging vocal lead, before the fuse is lit on a battery of booming toms; a bona fide skyscraper of a chorus. You'll be hard pushed to find a more mesmerising newcomer this summer.
