HUMOUR NEIGHBOURS

After two years, Glasgow post-punk five piece Humour make a ripping return with their new single ‘Neighbours’. Noted as one of the band’s heaviest releases yet, the track has a blistering post-hardcore energy that pulses through sharp riffing, percussive crashes and the scathing shouts of vocalist Andreas Christodoulidis. The band alternates between a grinding ferocity and periods of respite, which perfectly reflects the trembling apprehension of the track’s subject as described by Christodoulidis. Speaking on the track, he shares: Neighbours is about a guy who lives alone but is convinced that a group of mischievous creatures share his flat, deliberately doing things to make him suffer, like turning off the heating in winter, or turning it up when he’s too hot and making noise in the kitchen when he tries to sleep. As he gradually descends into paranoia and psychological instability, he decides to try and get rid of them by turning the oven on and letting gas fill the flat overnight."‘Neighbours’ demonstrates a strengthened intensity in both instrumentation and lyricism for Humour, allowing them to welcome a fresh, bone-crushing sound. The Scottish post-rockers are back with more force than ever. -Kayla Sandiford
