Following their playful recent single '2468', Chicago outfit Horsegirl reveal the reflective second sample of their forthcoming sophomore album Phonetics On And On. Produced in collaboration with the unmistakable Cate Le Bon, 'Julie' is a heartfelt piece that belongs in a similar world to the works of Electrelane or Broadcast. Lead by earnest lyricism, lofi synths drone gently beneath consistent and intentionally uncomplicated guitar parts. Punctuated by a spidery second guitar, 'Julie' is a shining example of Horsegirl's songwriting prowess and a masterclass in knowing when less is more. Arriving alongside an equally captivating video directed by Amsterdam-based animator Daphna Awadish Golan, it's a thoughtful and timeless release from the evocative trio.
