‘Exactly As It Seems’ is the new single from London via Buckinghamshire six-piece Home Counties. It’s a quirky track driven by wobbly, playful bass lines and cleverly crafted angular guitar parts. The track combines a wide range of inspiration, from art rock to early 2000s pop and Talking Heads, resulting in something joyously strange, catchy and memorable. ‘Exactly As It Seems’ is taken from the band’s 10-track debut album of the same name: “It’s an album about despair at your current financial prospects, feeling guilty about your role in gentrification, being overwhelmed by consumer choice, and disintegrating friendships.” It’s out now. -Dan Peeke
