Making a serious impact in the hip-hop world is no mean feat. Having a confident whack at it though, is Memphis-based Healy, whose new single ‘Slalom’ is a blissful, soul-tinged gem. Co-written with, and produced by regular collaborator and friend PLC - ‘Slalom’ is aptly named, as the track snakes in and out of subdued, airy synth progressions, into swaying bass-heavy, hip-hop leaning verses. There’s no doubt however, that this new offering has enough crossover appeal to cut through, with its sublimely catchy pop-leaning hook, executed to perfection. The track’s chorus talks of “brights lights, and the “big city” - and with ‘Slalom' - Healy is proving he’s got more than enough about him to find himself under the bright lights of stardom in the not too distant future. -JC
