GOYA GUMBANI FIREFLY (FEAT. FATIMA)
Having been settled in South London since his teens, Brooklyn-born storyteller Goya Gumbani announces new album Warlord of the Weejuns with its luxurious new single 'FireFly'. Featuring the irresistibly silky vocals of London-based Swedish soul singer Fatima, 'FireFly' in a sensual combination of jumpy hip-hop beats, subtly psychedelic guitar work and smooth, jazzy bass grooves. Opening his verse with the ingenious line 'My type she come thicker than a crumpet ', Gumbani nods cheekily to his adoption of British culture before confronting more complex emotions of love and loss in the aftermath of a breakup. Built on production contributions from Swarvy, Omari Jazz, Les Lockheart, Zalente, and quickly, quickly, 'FireFly' comes together like a collage, with each artist adding their own secret ingredient to this satisfying sonic melting pot. Now signed to Ghostly International, Warlord of the Weejuns will arrive via the label on the 21st of March. -Holly Mullineaux
