When life calls out the tough questions, Baltimore-bred musician Goldwash does something a little different to what the rest of us might do; he makes “existential funk.” There’s truly no better description for his ponderous track ‘Ok, I Lied’, which takes us on a stream-of-consciousness guided by an electronic-funk hook and a dutiful touch of indie-R&B. It’s easy to lose yourself in the melodic myriad of electronic beats and our protagonist’s soulful croon, which portrays a powerful sense of yearning. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Goldwash employs his training as a jazz pianist and appreciation of the Baltimore club scene to create something that sounds super fresh. If your voracious appetite for more rhythmic existentialism has been awakened with ‘Ok, I Lied’, then you’ll be happy to hear that Goldwash released an EP titled LDR in the same luscious vein. - HT
