GLOWS PULL

Hot on the heels of 'Chaser', London-based audio-visual project Glows share another magnetic morsel from their forthcoming debut mixtape LA, 1620. The atmosphere weighs heavy on 'Pull' as hazy, washed-out elements are brought together by impactful beats that hit with and angsty sense of self-assurance. Using a heap of interesting loops and production techniques, including some extraterrestrial pitch shifting, the sprawling track explores interpersonal relationships and their fragile, temporal nature. Producer/vocalist GG Skips ponders: “Your experience with someone is always protected by love...But when it’s then passed on like a relay to someone else, does it lose its sacredness?" As ever, the release comes with a highly stylised video, directed by the project's second half Felix BH. Using cinematic shots to bring out the magic in everyday objects BH says: “There are inserts for narrative threads, slow tv and footage which is just about style...Moments more aligned to video art alongside skewed elements from the existing tropes of music videos, each component communicates in a different way." LA 1620 will arrive on the 15th of September via their own respected tastemaker label Slow Dance. -Holly Mullineaux
