Free Nationals have been feeding us a drip of their delicious jazzed up R&B in the form of singles, since their first release ‘Beauty & Essex’ in 2018 and are making a name for themselves outside of being known as Andrson Paak’s band. Having previously gathered up talented collaborators such as Kalis Uchis, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Kadja Bonet, their brand new single ‘Eternal Light’ features esteemed reggae artist Chronixx. His vocals are balmy and smooth, as he sings about "good vibrations" and "positive vibes". A reggae element is introduced to the production style with leisurely, staccato runs on electric guitar, a funky bass line and a chilled beat. The floaty electric piano parts lift the track, and respond to Chronixx’s catchy melodies. Drummer Callum Conner explains what it was like collaborating with Chronixx on ‘Eternal Light’ explaining: "The melody ideas he comes up with are unlike anyone else.
