FOXWARREN YVONNE

Foxwarren share new single ‘Yvonne’, a gentle beachcomber’s ballad. ‘Yvonne’ is the second preview of the band’s upcoming album, and it diverges from the urgent synth buzz of first single ‘Listen2me’ released just last month. From the moment the song starts, you’re drawn into an earthy, sand-swept soundscape. Warmth moves seamlessly through natural, palm-muted drums and mellow acoustic strums which nestle comfortably into the enveloping hum of the bass. It’s a grounded foundation which lifts the serene tone of Andy Shauf’s vocals, particularly in his harmonious admission of ‘I don’t know what I’d do without you, Yvonne’. This is elevated by longing, expressive strings which subtly ornament the instrumentation. At just over two minutes, ‘Yvonne’ is short and stirring, much like catching the last few moments of a breathtaking sunset. Speaking on the track, Foxwarren have shared: “Yvonne, the woman scanning the beach for buried treasure, deserves a love song too.” In this way, ‘Yvonne’ becomes a tender treasure that continues to glimmer even as Shauf’s echoes of ‘I don’t know what I’d do…’ fade out. -Kayla Sandiford
