FEEO IT WAS THEN THAT I
A South London artist that has mesmerised us over the last year or so, feeo reveals the textural new piece 'it was then that i'. With the dust only just settled on her 2023 EP Ah, Hunger! (which reeled us in hook line and sinker with the tantalising 'Red Meat'), feeo's newest offering is strikingly restrained. Sitting confidently in its downbeat tempo, dizzying pitched vocal samples form the instrumental backbone as feeo's calm delivery leaves listeners contemplating every word. Fleshed out with enticing additional melodies, plunging sub bass and flickering samples, 'it was then that i' feels reminiscent of some of Björk or Portishead's most avant-garde work, whilst retaining an addictive sense of accessibility. Clearly moving from strength to strength, we'll be watching feeo like a hawk as the year unfolds. -Holly Mullineaux
