FAKE TURINS LEGS

We caught Fake Turins supporting the one-of-a-kind Sneaks at The Windmill in Brixton just over a year ago and were left feeling intrigued by the 10 piece collective's sprawling, psychedelia-tinged pieces. Today the self-described nomadic disco-punks have revealed an unfurling new offering in 'LEGS'. Taking influence from a wide pool that includes slackery post-punk, modern jazz and traditional Indian music, band co-ordinator Dominic Rose's spoken-word vocal style is delivered with a distinctly poetic air. Opening with a vitally repetitive bass line, laid-back clarinet swirls languidly around the percussive beat as sharp guitar flourishes interrupt the track's hypnotic serenity. Veering off course shortly after the 3 minute mark, the mantra "Legs lifting ties, cut from dreams, called my own" welcomes in an uplifting ending, which sees out the remainder of the fascinating composition. -Holly Mullineaux
