Brighton-based artist ELLiS·D has released his new single, ‘Carousel’. His style is a unique take on art rock, with influences from post-punk and baroque-pop combining with glam and new wave; he has been described as “David Byrne becoming a goth and then meeting up with Ian Curtis.” It’s a truly enigmatic sound, with the cherry on top coming from Ellis Dickson’s ghostly baritone voice and infectious energy. The track is “an attempt at mitigating the anxious, paranoid wreck that lives inside us and wants to spoil everything. A cathartic fuck you to the parading cowards ripping up the rulebook on human decency in front of our eyes and hiding behind their big red buttons.” He’ll be performing live around the UK this summer. -Dan Peeke
