Dark-sunshine-pop duo Double Wish have returned with their new single, ‘Floating’. The Orange County outfit continue to develop on their unique sound, which is a mesh of alt-rock influences and sparkly guitars, alongside melodic bass synths and hypnotic, trancey synths, all wrapped up in crystal clear production. It’s a slowly building track that opens with an isolated acoustic guitar and single synth note, before building into a soaring, synth-led soundscape that elevates the opening guitar progression. “I wrote the song knowing I wanted it to be the opening track to a larger body of music, and not just something that stood alone,” they say. “A track that welcomes the listener.” ‘Floating’ will be welcoming the listener into Double Wish’s upcoming four-track EP, Universe Sometimes, which drops on June 28th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
