Ambient artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Damian Dalla Torre has returned with his latest release, ‘Acryl’. It’s a tranquil blend of piano and acoustic guitars, which support the delicate vocal of Laura Zöschg and the flute and tenor sax of Damian himself. He explains that the main motif of the piece came to him “during an improvised passage of a live concert. A scent reached my nose at that moment, evoking a vivid memory of a feeling within me. As I carried this feeling, the melody and its expression naturally emerged. After the concert, a recording captured this spontaneous creation, and I was determined to use this fragment.” Unable to recreate the intensity of the moment from his studio, he ended up using the actual live recording throughout the track. As a result, ‘Acryl’ has become a beautiful and poignant blend of his refined studio process and a moment of genuine, irreplicable inspiration. ‘Acryl’ is lifted from Damian’s upcoming album, I Can Feel My Dreams, which releases on July 12th, 2024, via Squama Recordings. -Dan Peeke
