CREMATION LILY WAVERING BLOOD

London noise artist Cremation Lily releases dark a hypnagogic track ‘Wavering Blood’ from their upcoming album Dreams Drenched in Static. The record is set to centre around the theme of sleep or more specifically the gaps between sleep and consciousness with lyrics “largely written at three in the morning and serving to evoke the depression and meditations on death that seem to haunt these early hours.” The track is an immersive experience, it feels easy to get lost in the vast electronic soundscapes, swells of static mix with fizzing distorted guitars as distant vocal melodies float in the background - there is a distinct lack of clarity that enhances the liminal, dream-like world the record resides in. Cremation Lily’s combination of abrasive electronics with melancholic vocals and the general sense of foreboding draw to mind experimental bands like Have A Nice Life (also on Flenser Records), who are similarly hard pin down genre wise and like Cremation Lily reference a range of genres from black metal to power electronics to create something unique. -Toby Evans-Jesra
