After teaching herself to play guitar in the 2020 lockdown The Courtneys drummer Jen Twynn Payne has recorded an album for her new project Big Rig and released new single 'Crying In A Corn Maze'. After becoming enamoured with the banjo playing on Alex G records, Jen teamed up with banjo player Geoffo Reith (who also recorded the album) and set about writing songs in a style she has coined as 'Twangmo' (twangy emo). The new single is a mellower and more folk sounding sound than The Courtneys indie-rock, with the Alex G influence audible but not too blatant, and hints of a more slowcore-ish Duster sound. The full album will be released on June 24th by Peaceful Tapes. -Toby Evans-Jesra
