‘Out In The Garden’ is the new single from Irish singer-songwriter Annika Kilkenny. The track serves as a hypnotic expansion to her already developed soothing folky sonic world. This track allows her to dive into a slightly more experimental landscape than might be typical, with off-kilter rhythms supporting unique harmonic decisions, all packaged in dreamy production. Lyrically, it’s an elegy to renewal, which she explains “plays on the idea of planting oneself, like one would a flower, in hopes that they will grow differently. It’s a song about clean slates and wanting to start again but then realising that might not be necessary as our mistakes and our past shape who we are, and it’s best to not forget those things when growing into new versions of ourselves.” She plays her biggest headline show in Dublin to date on December 14th, 2024, at The Workman’s Club. -Dan Peeke
