Written mid-pandemic, Sweden-born, London band Junodef describe the creation of their newest single 'Close' as a bit of "an Ableton circus". Vastly differing from their usual writing process of jamming in person for hours on end, the close-knit group (no pun intended) are masters of melancholy. Pairing distant, icy beats with perfectly panned guitar work, doused in just the right level of reverb, ominous bass guitar swells beneath vocalist Karin Grönkvist's longing vocal delivery style. The band explain: "Close is about love and conflict. It touches on the grim backside of love, and the sides it sometimes brings out in ourselves, like insecurities and guilt."
