There's not often we're hooked on an all-out indie-rock banger like this peach from Cardiff four-piece ESTRONS. 'Make A Man' dropped around two months back, but our attention has only really been stoked since Radio 1's Annie Mac jumped onboard, spinning it on her primetime slot this week. We need to thank Annie, big time, because 'Make A Man' is just about the most visceral single we've heard all year. Taking their name from the Welsh term for alien, ESTRONS are making straight-to-the-point, hook-heavy guitar tunes that feel anything but out of place in the current climate. Railing against female objectification, singer Taliesyn Källström is a woman possessed, storming over ricocheting drums and impressively weighty riffs. There's an EP in the pipeline, landing next month via Gofod Records - keep an eye out. - DC
