Dream Wife formed at art school in Brighton and, what began as a performance art piece, quickly morphed into a boisterously empowering, feisty party of a project. With a cheeky, knowing wink to Le Tigre, the three, now London-based, musicians - Alice Go (guitar and vocals), Bella Podpadec (bass and vocals) and Icelander Rakel Mjöll (lead vocals) - are leading an attitude-filled charge in the punked-up pop world, which could do with a little inspiring. “Hey Heartbreaker” is the screaming, fist-pumping first taste of their self-titled EP (to be released through Cannibal Hymns on Friday 11th March) and keeps things brilliantly simple, with crunching guitar licks, pounding drums and a shuddering bass line to put Dream Wife’s message and carefree approach centre-stage. With a rambunctious live show to match, which comes to London’s Birthdays on EP release day, they’re a trio looking to shake things up and it’s head-bangingly refreshing. -G.O'B
