DEEP TAN SHIMMER
Catching our attention earlier this year with their brooding debut 'Air', rising London trio deep tan have been floating around the capital's live circuit seducing audiences with their impassioned, hazy art-rock. Arriving today via Practise Music (who've had a hand in the careers of acts including Woman's Hour, Osquello and Squid), is a double A-side consisting of the dazzling 'Shimmer' and its punkier counterpart 'Constant Inconsistencies'. Accompanied by a perfectly-timed visualiser by South London-based artist Edie Lawrence, 'Shimmer' is a glacial combination of smooth bass grooves, reverb-drenched guitar lines and cooly delivered vocals. Brought to life by a danceable drum beat and intimate hand claps 'Shimmer' is further evidence of deep tan's untapped potential. Catch them live supporting fellow TMR faves Phobophobes tonight at Werkhaus in Brick Lane, London. -Holly Mullineaux
