Seminal lo-fi artist Alex G has returned with an understated yet impactful new single in 'Blessing'. Proving that whispering can be just as effective, if not even more so, than shouting, hushed call and response vocals haunt the verses, uttered over a thumping, straight rock beat. The bass line is melodic and addictive, sitting in the background as it burrows, almost undetected, into your subconscious. Sparse, effected guitars punctuate these segments before ramping up in the heavier instrumental sections; and as the song reaches its climax, a signature, catchy, synth line steals the lime light, leading the track to a thoroughly satisfying conclusion.
