BAD WAVE TIME TO GET LOST
Los Angeles duo Bad Wave (Patrick Hart and Tucker Tota) strike out at the coming inauguration of president-elect Donald Trump with new fired up track ‘Time To Get Lost’. Their last single ‘Daniel’ also shares an apocalyptic theme, but at least that one was created within the constraints of a comic strip and funky synths. This time around, the emotion is all too real as signalled by aggressive guitars and fierce lyrics like “come at me with your big plans,” most likely direct at Trump. The heat is somewhat tempered by sweeping violins and an unusual break into disco do-dahs, before turning to a cinematic orchestra of strings befitting an old Hollywood thriller. ‘Time To Get Lost’ is expertly pieced together, taking the listener through angry indie-rock, to blissfully ignorant synth-pop, to a crescendo that quite simply fills us with dread. It’s surely a feeling that will reach new heights over realism over the next few days, maybe even years, the only recompense being that out of hardship comes reactive creativity. To finish, here’s the last word from Bad Wave’s Tota: "This song is definitely an expression of anger at the outcome. Anger towards a broken system. Towards a person who is somehow expected to represent me. Obama said in his farewell address that 'citizen' is the highest office in a democracy. This is a song about remembering who’s in charge." - HT
